A little bit about us
Barncliffe Day Nursery is a small friendly OFSTED registered nursery that opened in the summer of 2012. We are set in a converted mill with the stunning surroundings of the countryside within the heart of Shelley village. Our nursery is also in close promixity to the following areas:
- Clayton West
- Denby Dale
Here at Barncliffe Day Nursery we offer a high standard of care for children from birth to five years old, in a warm and caring environment which provides stimulating choices to encourage your child’s development in all areas. At Barncliffe Day Nursery your child will be given opportunities to make their own choices, decisions and learning experiences through the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Our latest OFSTED report was held on 12 Feb 18 and we achieved a GOOD report.
Some of their findings include:
“Children are independent and self-motivated learners, they explore the well resourced environment with confidence and learn their own play”

“We were absolutely delighted by the fantastic play room and garden, the facilities are completely child-centric and the general care ethos promotes healthy development both physically and emotionally.”
“Tucked away behind the facade of a mill building and industrial units is an absolute gem of a place to take your children for the best care and the most fun. Barncliffe Day Nursery really make the best use of the indoor space and the outdoor area is a fantastic place for the children to play safely and securely with their friends.”
“A place where my children feel safe and have fun. The staff are so genuinely interested in the children and their development, they have become like an extended part of our family.”
“The food is fantastic, the nursery is spotless and both my husband and I feel that this is the best nursery in the area.”
“It takes a lot for a parent to trust another with their child and you have the heaviest of responsibilities in your position, we both think that you all handle it with professionalism and above all, a caring and nurturing way towards the children.”
“Knowing we can leave our little ones with you all, and they are cared for and loved means the world to us.”
