Our baby room nursery has been designed to offer a warm, inviting and homely atmosphere for 11 babies. This self-contained room has changing and sleeping facilities which is for babies from birth to 2 years old. The experienced and qualified nursery nurses encourage, show and support the babies as they develop. We follow OFSTED guidelines with a 1:3 ratio to ensure your baby has the best experience possible. In the baby room nursery, the nurses follow the babies routines and needs to mirror those at home following the Key Person system.
Baby Room Nursery
The baby room nursery is well equipped with furniture at the babies level, it is a light and bright environment where the babies will be introduced to new experiences and be given time to explore their surroundings safely using their senses. They also have access to our nursery garden, where babies are able to discover through heuristic play and will be introduced to materials and objects with different textures in our treasury baskets. Babies are given opportunities to explore and have some of their first experiences doing sensory and tactile based activities. Mealtime menus are adapted to cater for each child less than one year old to help support with their weaning stages. Any dietary requirements and allergies will also be discussed.
We provide settling in visits to all children before they start their adventure with us at Barncliffe Day Nursery to ensure each child becomes familiar with the environment and the nursery nurses, in particular their assigned key person. During this time we will discuss your child’s routine, like, dislikes and you will be provided with information that will help you as a parent in this transition, too.
The Next Step
As your child grows we will discuss with you when we feel they are ready to transition from the baby room nursery into the play room, this is sometimes done earlier depending on each child’s stage of development. All transition visits are done during the child’s day(s) at nursery. Read our about us for more information.
